Peter Bogardus is a photographer, printer, and book artist best known for his photogravure images documenting spiritual life in Africa. His pilgrimages have culminated in numerous books, the latest of which, Places of Reverence, will be displayed in this exhibition. He shoots predominantly with a large format film camera and prints his images from etched copper plates as photogravures. His books and prints, both part of the exhibition, are produced in his studio in New York and issued under his own imprint, Khelcom New York. He is a 2012 recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship Award for Photography.
