Atelier Contakos is pleased to present Sorcerer's Apprentices (Approaching the Irreversible), an exhibition by Uruguayan artist Roberto Fernández Ibáñez. As a trained chemist, and self-taught photographer; his images are characterized by experimentation with chemistry and light - a return to the foundational elements of photographic technique. Exploring the frontier between the real and the imaginary, his work reflects his interests in the environment, human behavior, and symbolism. Roberto’s work has been exhibited in Argentine, Australia, Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Netherlands, Spain, United States and Uruguay. He was awarded the Morosoli 2012 Award in Arts, Uruguay, in recognition of his artistic trajectory and his contribution to Uruguayan culture. His work is held in collections around the world. He resides in Solymar, Uruguay, a seaside town near Montevideo.
